Reasons for the explosion of frequency converters

The supplier of the frequency converter braking unit reminds you that as a commonly used part of electrical equipment, frequency converters often encounter common problems such as overheating of output resistors, CPU abnormalities, component abnormalities, input abnormalities, output abnormalities, and so on.

1、 If the input power supply is connected to the output motor in reverse, it will explode;

2、 The explosion of the frequency converter may be caused by two reasons:

Explosion of a capacitor

1. Explosion occurred inside the frequency converter due to short circuit

⑴ Generally, it is due to the high internal temperature of the frequency converter, which leads to capacitor explosion

⑵ It depends on the usage environment (if the environment is too poor, consider using an explosion-proof frequency converter), or there may be foreign objects left inside the frequency converter.

2. Causes of capacitor explosion;

⑴ The power supply voltage is too high

⑵ Capacitor failure or leakage. It should be due to the high humidity in the room or the presence of water droplets inside the frequency converter, which caused a short circuit in a certain component and led to the explosion accident. If it is an old machine, there may be another reason, which is that the circuit board of the frequency converter is not coated with insulation layer. The circuit board of the old Omron frequency converter has not undergone insulation and anti-corrosion treatment. It could also explode.

If the IGBT module explodes just after the inverter is powered on, it is basically determined that the IGBT misleads and causes a short circuit in P and N, excluding the possibility of power wiring errors. There are many reasons for this phenomenon, such as switching power supplies, driving circuits, and so on. There is a short circuit, or there is a problem with the drive circuit board, or the trigger signal is not connected to the module. It is also possible that weak wires carry strong electricity. There is a foreign object conducting electricity, causing a short circuit. It is also possible that the voltage is too high or the components have aged.
